Mellon grant
I am honored to receive the Mellon Foundation Grant and the Faculty Research Grant from the UChicago Center for the Study of Race, Politics, & Culture for my research project “Postwar Craniometry in Human Evolutionary Studies.” This grant allows me to do research at Harvard’s Peabody Museum Archives in September 2022.

Dr. Nicholas Passalacqua and I will present our paper “The Impact of British Biometry and Race Studies on the Origins of Forensic Anthropology in the United States” at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Annual Meeting in Seattle.

History of Science Society/SHOT joint annual meeting
Dr. Lisette Jong and I will present our paper “Tracing Race in Forensic Anthropological Data Practices: the Case of ForDisc” at the 2021 joint meeting of the History of Science Society/SHOT meeting in New Orleans. The presentation will be part of the conference panel I co-organized with Dr. Erik Peterson, titled “Building Race into the Machine: The Ongoing Challenges of ‘Big Data’”.
